I seem to recall that a small book circulated in Germany in the late 19th century. While I cannot recall the author or title, the premise of the small book was that the wealth, productivity and art of the German people was being stolen by the banksters.
I found an immediate parallel to my memory of this small book from years ago to this essay you have just presented.
Much of the history of the Reich should probably be seen in the context of other, competing empires, including the British and Russian variants on the theme. Certainly, the official party line from such seeks to establish for themselves a sort of moral directive for their aggressive actions upon the world.

Yes, that part of European history is quite remarkable, I think, in that if we studied the formation of Europe, we would know that the French Revolution wasn't helpful (but the better story), while the German Revolution was (depressive but) actually the real success of Europe.
