These students experience no mass education stress, enjoy full freedom, and have every opportunity available to them. Their schools certainly don’t look like the Alcatraz prison complex.

What Dr. Pattberg writes is true. In Japan, the Jukus are the key to college admission and academic success. State schools do not prepare for entrance exams to top high schools and universities. The system is broken. At least for those who don't have money for private schools.

The Japanese are very smart people, but lack the assertiveness of the Americans. History had cut them short, no pun intended.
